Curious about our different Yoga Classes?
Purna – Integral Yoga
Purna Yoga – Great for achieving relaxation, peace of mind and improving flexibility - translating to ‘Complete’ or ‘Integral’ Yoga, integrates aspect of meditation, breath work and physical asana to bring balance and alignment to the physical, emotional, mental and Spiritual. Incorporating yogic philosophy, you can bring off the mat.
Iyengar – Yoga of alignment
Great for increasing posture and precision. In Iyengar Yoga you will focus on alignment and static strength and energy where you will build both strength and stamina. Extra focus on alignment makes it a great practice for those working around an injury.
Hatha – Ha-Tha – ‘Willfull’, ‘Forceful’, ‘Sun’-‘Moon’
The Yoga of balance to bring balance into mind body and spirit. And prepare the mind and body for meditation. Will bring a sense of relaxation and you will go through the basic asanas.
What’s the difference between Yoga and Pilates?
Pilates – Pilates focuses on 6 main principles, concentration, control, center, flow, precision and breathing, these are skills that are strengthened in every class. Can be great for those working around an injury/injury prevention due to its strict focus on alignment and control. You will build balance and strength, whilst also improving your flexibilty. The movements are matched alongside ‘Pilates breath’ and therefore can have a very mindful feel to the class, however the typical Pilates class is technically an ‘exercise class’
Yoga – Great for achieving a sense of relaxation, recommended for anyone looking for long lasting benefits to the mind (balance and peacefulness) and body (strength and flexibility). Despite it’s benefits for the body, it’s seen as more of a spiritual practice as opposed to an exercise class, however the physical benefits are a wonderful secondary benefit. The physical benefits of asana and pranayama can leave you feeling an overall sense of wellbeing and calm.
