New procedures for attending fitness classes

Latest update:

23 July 2020

Booking your session

  • Booking sessions – advanced booking of classes is compulsory. Class slots are only bookable on our app.
  • Please leave promptly when your allotted time is up to allow our team enough time to clean between time slots.
  • There is a one way system on site, entry will be through our reception area and the exit is the large blue gate by the deep end of the pool which shall be marked.
  • Please arrive in appropriate workout gear for the gym session you are attending, minimizing any need for using the limited outside changing huts. There are no lockers currently available.
  • Late arrivals will not be permitted entry in order to meet our cleaning measures and customer safety. Please respect this rule – it is up to the discretion of the duty manager and not the instructor.
  • Weather – in normal wet conditions, the class will continue under shelter of the tent canopy (without walls). In severe weather conditions, a manager will cancel the class and issue credit where applicable. Please check our website prior to attending your pre-booked class to check that it is still running in these circumstances.
  • We strongly advise that you wear high factor sunscreen (50+ SPF) when attending outdoor classes Click here for more information.

Cleanliness

  • Please turn up 5 minutes early to wipe down your equipment. Classes will end earlier to allow time for you to wipe down equipment after use. All equipment is cleaned pre- and post-session by the participant/attendee. Cleaning stations with wipes, spray and tissue will be provided.
  • You must bring your own matt for classes that require one (or a towel to lay down on ours if you do not own one). Classes that require a mat include 60 minute spins (not required for 45 minutes spin), Legs, Bums & Tums, HIIT, Yoga, Pilates, Pi-Yo-HIIT Fusion, Fit+Functional, Bootcamp and Circuits.
  • Please bring your own blocks or belts if you are attending a class where you usually require them, such as Yoga or Pilates.

Essentials

  • Please wear a hat and sunglasses if the weather requires it.
  • Please bring a full water bottle. Water fountains may be in use to fill a water container, but no mouth-to-tap water access is permitted.
  • Please arrive 5 minutes early (but no more than 10) to clean down your equipment
  • Please respect the 2 metre distancing rule both within the gym and all areas of our site. Do not gather in groups prior to, or after your class. Our staff and customers are aware of the need to avoid contact.
  • If you wish to support our café, please follow the one way system upstairs and respect the time slots provided.
  • Spotting is not permitted due to the nature of proximity required.
  • The car park has been altered so that every other space is available. Please note there will be less parking availability on site.
  • The dry-side toilets and disabled access toilet by reception are the only ones in use. Please wait 2 metres apart outside the toilets while queuing.
  • Please ensure you have given us correct contact information in case we need to reach you. You must let us know if you later test positive for Covid-19 within 7 days after using the gym.
  • Do not come to Hampton Pool if you are displaying any Covid-19 symptoms:
    • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
    • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
    • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

Yoga

These classes offer various movements that are held and work on postures by promoting body, mind and breath control. It is suitable for everyone who wants to feel both physically and mentally refreshed.

Curious about our different Yoga Classes?

Purna – Integral Yoga
Purna Yoga – Great for achieving relaxation, peace of mind and improving flexibility - translating to ‘Complete’ or ‘Integral’ Yoga, integrates aspect of meditation, breath work and physical asana to bring balance and alignment to the physical, emotional, mental and Spiritual. Incorporating yogic philosophy, you can bring off the mat.

Iyengar – Yoga of alignment
Great for increasing posture and precision. In Iyengar Yoga you will focus on alignment and static strength and energy where you will build both strength and stamina. Extra focus on alignment makes it a great practice for those working around an injury.

Hatha – Ha-Tha – ‘Willfull’, ‘Forceful’, ‘Sun’-‘Moon’
The Yoga of balance to bring balance into mind body and spirit. And prepare the mind and body for meditation. Will bring a sense of relaxation and you will go through the basic asanas.

What’s the difference between Yoga and Pilates?

Pilates – Pilates focuses on 6 main principles, concentration, control, center, flow, precision and breathing, these are skills that are strengthened in every class. Can be great for those working around an injury/injury prevention due to its strict focus on alignment and control. You will build balance and strength, whilst also improving your flexibilty. The movements are matched alongside ‘Pilates breath’ and therefore can have a very mindful feel to the class, however the typical Pilates class is technically an ‘exercise class’

Yoga – Great for achieving a sense of relaxation, recommended for anyone looking for long lasting benefits to the mind (balance and peacefulness) and body (strength and flexibility). Despite it’s benefits for the body, it’s seen as more of a spiritual practice as opposed to an exercise class, however the physical benefits are a wonderful secondary benefit. The physical benefits of asana and pranayama can leave you feeling an overall sense of wellbeing and calm.
